“…the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”
(Genesis 2:7)
God breathes life! His very breath is life to anything lifeless. We have a shorter name for lifeless—dead! How many situations/people in your life seem dead… so dead that you cannot see any way for them to be anything other than dead? There has been no life there for so long. If God can create something out of dust and breathe life into the dust… He can breathe life into whatever situation or person that seems dead in your life.
How, you ask? The situation or person must be placed in the path of God’s breath. Where is God’s breath, you ask? I am so glad you asked! The Hebrew word for breathe is naphach (naw-fakh). It means, to blow, to breathe out. God must exhale or blow on whatever is dead for it to have life in it. Where is God’s breath—His exhale? Have you ever held a child in your arms against your chest? It has been proven that a baby loves to be in that position because of the heartbeat they can feel… like when they were in the womb. Next to the heartbeat says safety and security to the baby. If a person or a situation was lying next to God’s heart… He would be exhaling (breathing) on it (him)! How long has it been since you crawled upon His lap and laid your head on His chest? First of all… His heartbeat is awesome… and… you are right in line with His exhale! That is where life is begun!
There is one other place that the word breathe is used. This time in the New Testament—John 20:22, And with that He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” Man’s first life was breathed into him and the new life… the life of the Holy Spirit, was also breathed on him! Of course it was… Jesus had just risen from the dead. Ok, hold on… if Jesus had died… how did He come back to life? God is a God of patterns… we can certainly know that He must have breathed life back into Him! Jesus was in a human body, and how did God raise a human, lifeless body—Genesis 2:7! God breathed on it! So… if God had just breathed on Jesus, Jesus had to pass it on! He passed it on to show that the Holy Spirit in you is breath… life… healing… wholeness… miraculous change!
If you are a born again believer, you have the breath of God in you… my precious ones!
If you are not a born-again believer God is waiting to breathe His life into you today!!! Inhale… then… breathe on someone today… pass it on… Jesus did!
Exhaling…
Kathy
