Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then, you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing, and perfect will. Romans 12:2
Have you ever opened a can of sardines? If so… what did “they” look like? If not, you need to get a can and open it! It will show you much about your life!
I will try to describe the contents of the can for you. The can is filled with small, young, shiny fish that are all the same length and color, lined up in a row looking the same direction. They are content to be there in that slimy dark place waiting for someone to open the can and lift them out. They were raised to be placed in that dark, oily can. They never knew anything else. I wonder if any one of them ever thought about a more exciting life.
I want you to think about your life… now compare it to the sardines’ life. Are you satisfied with your relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit? Or, are you content to be like every other person (sardine) lined up in the church or work or school (can)? Are you swimming through your life without a vibrant, transforming, renewing, good, pleasing, perfectly wonderful, and God-breathed freedom from eventual canning? If your answer is, “yes” then, Woo! Hoo! If your answer is, “NO” then, what are you going to do about it?
Being in a can is inevitable unless you swim away from the current of sameness, force feeding, and laziness. God wants to use a fork today and push you out of the can! He is opening the can as you read this… the light is beginning to stream in… Do not cover your eyes and ears (do sardines have ears?)! Read Romans 12:2 again, precious one. If you aren’t “transformed”, the “testing” and “approving” will not happen for you…
Please don’t be satisfied with that slimy, dark, cold existence when there is an abundant, exhilarating spiritual life waiting for you!
Raise your hand (fin) and repeat after me, “Lord, I choose today to conform myself only to You. My desire is for you to push me out of the can. I am ready for the exhilarating life you desire for me. I don’t want heaven to begin when I die-I want heaven to begin here and now! Thank you for not leaving me in the can satisfied with my so-so life. I love you!”
Transformed and loving it…
Kathy
